Asheville’s Day of Civic Hacking is in three weeks! Please join us on August 18 to explore ways to help local residents achieve their own civic goals more effectively.
Jesse Michel and Patrick Conant will be leading a workshop on how to use the City of Asheville’s Open Data Portal: how to find the data you want, and what to do with it once you’ve got it.
Melanie Mazanec will be leading an exercise on community asset and relationship mapping, to help organizations identify the best partners for collaboration.
George Collier will be leading an exercise and discussion demonstrating typical tools used by Data Scientists to understand and explore data and to develop machine learning models. Census data will be used.
Keep an eye out for time and location to be announced later this week. You can sign up for the event and notifications here.
Still want to do something on August 11, the official National Day of Civic Hacking? Code for America is hosting a panel discussion on the future of civic tech on Facebook LIVE, 3 PM EDT.
